I've got the skills - just not the inclination... I can use photoshop very well but don't have a creative bone in my body. Years and years ago I was the running the ad department at a small local paper and I'd have to fill in when we didn't have enough designers/layout folks. I'd lose clients every time and that's just layout.

that's indeed a drawback =) ..a bit off-topic: i think in almost every business - be it design, internet marketing, seo or whatever, you need three things to survive: skills (no biggie - you can learn that), creativity (thats a bit harder but if you analyze other people's work you might come up with some own ideas) and most of all motivation. i find the motivation part to be the trickiest.. it's just so tempting to take a day (or two or three) off, when you're running your own business with no boss involved.

That's true - but there are other ways to be creative even if design and layout aren't your thing. I do pretty good with what I do for a living - even if my sites aren't as "pretty" as I'd like them

Stuff like that - it's art, and I don't think everyone can learn to do it. So I enjoy what others do, and usually pay them to do it for me.
