Default Protect-X - false sense of security

Seeing a lot of TGP sites moving to use protect-x. First problem is you have to drop their code in your site. They haven't shown any way of making money since they started a couple of years ago. They say they are in it for the long haul....and will make money over time. They threw up some banners, but think that is an attempt to silence the critics. Makes me nervous, wonder if they are up to something not so white hat. When quizzed on the boards, many questions go unanswered.

Second, Their script checks for hit bots mostly. Doesn't really tell ya much more. So a "Clean Site" rated TGP could be gushing over with fake codec download scum. The newer webmasters, think all is fine. After all it is rated "Clean" and not listed on findtrades or cheaterhell.

My point is trading traffic can be dangerous to conversions and has to be managed. Check your trading partners and who they trade with.

good points... and that's why I don't trade traffic with anyone or use protect-x...

I don't have to worry about cheaters and assholes throwing fake codec spyware shit up to steal my traffic...

I just push em to my other sites and hope they buy something...

I know I could get a lot more hits if I opened up trades with people... but it only takes one cheater to fuck me out of my traffic... I always figured better safe than sorry...

A list of links (esp two way) not the best SEO anyway. Always an exception of course. Some link lists make it in the SERPs

true... one ways are much better...

I've not seen many link lists in the SERPs lately... at least not for some of the keywords I'm targeting... seems a rare occurrence these days to see one doing well...
