Had to down my server - anyone with trades up on my sites should suspend or disable until I get the issues resolved.
If you're a peep here and trade with me, you know the sites. Sorry about the hassle. ![]() |

Server backup now (for now?). Running LinkSentinel to ditch the hacks. That would be hacks around htaccess files that were tested.
![]() If any of ya are shopping for a dedicated hosting provider, hit me for comments. Not gonna make online drama right now. Enough to say I have kept copies of ICQs, service requests and emails. A word to the wise is always have a good backup plan in place and the ability to execute it quickly. Second is spread risk. Any volunteers to donate to my bandwidth bill? hahaha just kidding. Reminds me of some GFY threads. |

Next issue is password hacking. There is proxypass which is a good way for the provider to bill an extra $50/mo.
I'm doing pw changes on everything. The point of doing that often seems to get pushed off a lot of times. Think about somethin... When you sign up for a sponsor you enter a password. They often email it back to ya. So there it sits in your saved email. It also is known by the sponsor and some employees. Do you really trust all of them? That's the keys to the checks you get in the mail... Do you use the same pw across multiple sponsors? Someone on a mission could fuck you over royal! |

and tbh, I've never fully trusted sponsors with passwords... I'm sure most of em are solid, but it only takes one person to leak your info... as for mail... everything I get from sponsors and most of the rest of my e-mail gets forwarded to my yahoo e-mail... I don't like using domain based e-mail simply because yahoo has more uptime and a better spam filter than my domain based e-mail... I see no reason to put an extra load on my hosting account that I otherwise don't have to... plus, if somebody hacks my server they can't get access to my e-mails... for those sponsors that require you to have a domain based e-mail, I just use a forwarded one... I've never had any issues with it... |

The DEA should drop by here more often. He sure owned the JTF for awhile!!
Surprise! lined up a new host - they will take care of moving data, setup of scripts and resolve the issues.. Can't wait and hope all goes smooth, cause it sure is fucked up now. Last edited by pussyluver : 12-30-2007 at 11:28 AM. |

I have a Novel server running on my network. Don't think this is much chance of anyone hacking it - hahahaha Ony one of my PCs has a client for it and it is running ipx/spx instead of TCP. Bout time to down the mother I guess
We'd have uptimes of years on those ole suckers, esp if there was a UPS on the thing. |
