Thumbs up Resource Thread: Getting those first useful links

Hey all, although I see loads of useful resources and imformation about search eginnes on here. I want to start a thread with links to places you can "dump" your new websites down.

I increasingly find it harder and harder when I build a new website/blog to get it listed and get that crucial early traffic in.
Give me an old website anyday and I will build it up steadily.

Please share some with me as I am struggling with my new blogs at the moment, lets all help each other together on this board by posting trusted and realiable sources, rather than some noob spamming his new link dump site that obviously wont help.

Ok for my input I shall list some that I know already.

For Mainstream Blogs

Mainstream Blog Directories

for adult blogs

Blog Directories for Adult Websites

A link dump with some nice traffic.

I played with adult link dumps for a while... until most of em banned me... bastards... plus, I think the quality of links you get from dump sites is pretty low... still, there was a list of em somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it up...

I don't bother with blog directories much either... as they tend to not approve my spammy splogs...

for getting stuff indexed and getting some traffic flowing, social bookmarking sites do well...

Hey, thanks, yeh I have been banned from most link dumps too lol.

Could you however explain what social bookmarking is though please. I have never used it and consider it web 2.0.

Am i right in guessing you build a page, then leave these little buttons like digg and someone clicks on it and the more people that approve it, the better you become? in which case u should I start adding these little images on my pages?

Thanks for the linkdump list aswell

I'm balls deep in proxies n stuff at the moment... don't have time enough to fully answer you...

looking over the other threads here I now realize there isn't a solid guide to social bookmarking anywhere, especially for those from the adult biz that aren't real familiar with it yet... I will write something up later today or tomorrow as time permits...

I'm not an adult affiliate but I do use something called bookmarking deamon. It basically just submits bookmarks to a bunch of 2.0 sites and it also searches for sites with the scuttle script installed.

I dug into those scuttle sites the other day and what I noticed is that a lot of them appeared to be run by adult webmasters for the purpose of a link ring of some type.

Same guy running 40 or em, another guy running 30, etc...

Might be something for you guys to look into. To much freaking work for me, but obviously it's profitable for them or they wouldn't keep building them.

I setup scuttle before, just to test it out and it got hardcore spammed in a few days with viagra offers. As far as I know, the script is no longer supported too. So if you ever use it, plan on other people using your install for links as well.

I've need heard of it, but I found this:

"www.telalinks.com which doesn't really work because there style of linking is group linking. In essence, you put their code on your site and hope that everyone is linking to you. It didn’t work for me. I would search for my link popularity after six months to see who is linking to me, no one was + I didn’t receive any hits from any sites related to them either."

That's one of a ton of sites that apply "hooks" in your site site to operate. Makes me nervous to apply any code I don't thoroughly understand to be safe and where I totally trust the program.

To kick start new sites, ya get desperate for a short cut. There is no subsitute for hard work is the motto of the day and the the moral of the story I guess. That is establish realtionships with other sites, do real posts with your own words and negoitate good back links. Write good content and all is the safe and less of a risk in the end. Yeah, some short cuts and common sense applies.

Another tool is linkreferral.com. Assume most here know about it. Problem is they are on the Google shit list. Adsense will drop your site if they see the linkreferral button. They call linkrefferal click fraud.

I've seen some big sites use them and still do well in the SERPs so it can't be that big a badmark on the googs algo. Besides adsense is different than the SE. Still could be an indicator.

Think a lot of things come along like scuttle, work for awhile, then everyone finds out about it and over uses it (or abuses it) and fucks things up.

You could bust your ass and have multiple google/yahoo IDs, accounts at various hosts and work through proxies. If ya fuckup, your whole cash stream isn't taken down.

Screw it - I'll give up one of my easiest things I do. I have a hacked phpbb forum script that does two things.

1 - sends trackbacks and ping notifications and generates rss feeds.

2 - has no registration functionality. Has no way to reply to threads, has no links to profiles, has no way of being spammed or abused by anyone other than me

I install it. Then make about 20 posts for each of my sites over time. I usually reference someone else's blog post so I get the link back in the post.... and one or two of my other sites about every other post.

It's "work" but I don't deal with spam. I don't end up in supplementals, don't get banned, seem to pass human review, etc...

Half the time I'm just referencing someone else's shit and adding a resource box to my sites .

If I wanted to go a little further I could make a scraper, or markov content. It's just a database so you can do pretty much anything you want. These are part of my foundations though so I do give them more TLC than an auto generated site because I can link from them anytime I want.

I'm sure you could do the same thing for adult sites and even embedd images and video....

scuttle is kinda shitty... imho it had potential, but has since devolved into a spam facilitator... I looked at using it for some of my domains, but decided against it...
