well.. on the other board i came across a thread with people posting their bad signup ratios, bitching around why the fuck this and that sponsor doesnt convert. i'm pretty sure you've seen posts like that before: like "aaah, i got 1:9000 with xxxxxxxx" or "1:5000 wtf's up with that" and all.
stuff like that makes me wonder. while i might not be the biggest crack when it comes to generating HUGE amounts of traffic, i can say that the worst ratio i *ever* got was 1:400. so what do i do in order to achieve that kinda ratio?! ..easy, first thing is, most of my traffic comes from laser targeted keyphrases but that's really only one side of the medallion, the other is i *presell* the sites i'm pushing. the most basic example would be: instead of a link sayin': "click here for more" you could put up a link sayn': "click HERE for (detailed description of the site) - i'm sure you'll love it - and it'll only cost you (the price).. check it out, bro." this way the surfer knows what he can expect when clicking that link, plus he won't be surprised if suddenly a pricetag appears next to the content. bottom line: come up with better text-links, mofo ![]() |

Thanks for the advice. I learned this early on...nothing kills an ad budget like a bad ad. Unfortunately I did not come to the knowledge of preselling until I had wasted too much money.
I always thought that the most important thing to do was to get the click and then worry about the sale. How wrong that is. |
