my home internet is fuxored... I'm having over 50% packet loss and browsing a speeds of a whooping 8-10Kbps when it's not timing out

and the soonest they can come out and fix it is tomorrow afternoon...

Your assuming they CAN fix it. I had to switch from cable modem to DSL because they couldn't figure out HOW to get me faster than that.

3 weeks of service men coming out, scratching head, replacing connectors, wires, and nothing. Then it took the phone company 27 days to get the DSL running.

(I live on the east coast of the U.S. - not some third world country either)

yea, I've already considered the possibility that they may not be able to fix it and am looking at other options...

the bitch is I don't have a home phone line, just a cell phone... and the bloody phone company here requires you to have a home phone in order to get DSL... fuckin ripoff...

tho, I do have sprint for my cell service... I'm thinking about just getting a mobile broadband card from them and dropping the cable... could just use my lappy full time and say to hell with my towers...

going to go out a bit later and sponge some wifi on my lappy... at least then I'll be able to get some work done...

will see if they can fix it or not tomorrow...

I just popped a handful of vicodin... so I ain't going nowhere for a while...

gonna watch a movie, smoke a couple joints and pass the fuck out...

when I wake up later tonight I'll head out and hit my wifi spot... tbh, I hate going out during the middle of the day... I'm kinda anti-social... too many other people out and about... plus, those bitches all slow down the open wifi connections...

but cable is the fastest in my area... DSL from the phone company is slower than cable...

poto you shouldve taken a holiday.

it happend to me last summer for about 14 days. all i needed was a new box, but they were only prepared to send me it once i had verfied everything, they even sent over a engineer from about 50 miles away and sent me a new cable and software cd and loads of other bullshit.

anyway i just chilled out and watched every single episode of dog the bounty hunter lol

well, damnit... this new modem they gave me is giving me fits of trouble...

I have a sneaking suspicion they're throttling me... damn modem dies every time I try transfer a large file or stream video... it's gotten to the point that I installed a switch so I can reboot the modem without having to get up to unplug it... will be called the tech support morons back on monday morning...

argh...

although, some good has come out of it... this thread did inspire me build my latest and greatest website, Search teh Interweb lol...
