this time it was for an image from a sponsor iframe on one of my ghey sites...

I don't want to post the sponsor's name, but it was a small gay dating site... apparently they were being naughty and using stock photos without full permission... oops...

oh well... back to work...

Kinda sad when the Sheriff knows by your first name and calls ahead of time.... Sheriff=process server in this case.

lol, well it's not the Sheriff luckily...

just e-mails C&Ds from compliance departments at big companies...

ya know the usual, remove this or we're going to sue you, blah blah blah...

it's usually easier to remove it than fight with a large public company who has a huge legal department...

Threat letters don't impress me. Sue me hahahahahaha. I've had 'em of course. If they have half a point, I'll take down what ever content they want i guess. If I get sued, they are wasting there money. There is no big bank account or asset they'll beable to get. So it doesn't make sense.

yea, I hear ya...

and if I was in some kind of moral position to defend some unique art work or something, then it would be a different matter...

but like the first C&D I got was because of an article I had on an MFA site of mine... the company was being sued by the New York state Attorney General because of some product of theirs that was mentioned in the article... and I really didn't want any part of that...

this last one was a stock photo that a sponsor was using without permission... it took me 2 minutes to change out the iframe with a different one... no big deal... 2 minutes to swap some code is much easier than a lawsuit...

most of these companies are large mainstream outfits and are serious about enforcing their shit... they will take people to court and have in the past...

Going to court is a pain in the ass. My 2nd wife was an attorney. Let's see, I think she sued me 6 times outside of the divorce.

a real win is rare cause of the hassle and the expense. I have one case attractive right now, but under control. Actually might make a few $?? Don't care, they started it. The winner is the attorneys.
